Fourth Week Build Season Update
Fourth Week Summary!
In the fourth week of the build season, members have braved through subzero temperatures to continue with our building progress. Members have been been working in their subgroups to ensure that our robot is the best it can be. Working together is an integral part of the build, and our teams our communicating to get their jobs done and making it all work cohesively.
Trivia!
The answer to last week’s question is Dean Kamen has over 450 patents, including one for his invention of the Segway.
This week’s question is: How many mentors are on the current HOT team?

Team 67 Progress!
Dear HOT Robotics parents, guardians, and supporters,
The HOT Team build season has reached its half way point, and we are continuing to make forward progress. All the subgroups have been working hard to do what they can to make our robot the best it can be, and before you know it we will be putting all of it together and prepping for competition.
The Machining Team has continued making parts for the robot, doing lots of work on the lathes. They have been working to make axles and shafts for our drivetrain and elevator. Their work is the integral part between CAD’s designs and Mechanical Assembly’s use of the parts to build the robot.
The Electrical Team has been working to ensure that they have all the parts and products needed to help in the assembly of the robot’s systems. They have been planning the installation of their parts, as well as connecting pieces together to have them prepped and ready to go into the robot when needed.
The Programming team has continued writing and testing code for different aspects of the robot. One of the programs they have been working on is autonomous vision and tracking of game pieces. Along with this they have been updating and optimizing the code for the drivetrain.
The CAD team has been working on the design and including all the aspects needed in order for the team to have the desired product. They have been continuing 3D printing parts. These are used for many different aspects of the robot from spacers to prototyped parts. They have also been working on the virtual assembly of parts, to see how the pieces they have designed over time are to work together when assembled.
The Field Build team has been working to finish the practice field to use to ensure that it is ready for the robot practice. They finished building the rocket, which is where the robot places game pieces from low to high levels.
The Mechanical Assembly team has been working to get the robot ready to be used for practice, and prepared for the upcoming bag day. They have been working this week to finish the chassis and drivetrain of both the competition and practice robots. Along with this they have been adding the other components to the robots chassis, including our gearboxes for the drivetrain and our elevator components.
The Communications team has been working on different tasks for the season. They have been working on finalizing button designs, and beginning the process of making them. Along with this they have been working on the team animation, and the Woodie Flowers award essay.
For more information and details on the team, below the dates of upcoming events, new member interviews, and photos of team members working.
