Build Season

Fifth Week Build Season Update!

Important News!

The HOT Team has recently put out an alumni survey that we are using to retrieve information about alumni and their life after FIRST, if you are an alumni please fill out the survey and share it with your fellow team members.

We are also excited to be hosting an event again this year at Milford High School, March 8th and 9th. We encourage all alumni, families, teachers, and supporters to attend and support this years HOT Team!

Unfortunately, this week we lost two vital GM mentors due to the GM layoffs. Jim Meyer and Mark Shang were team staples and loved by all members. Their impact on this team is indescribable.

Trivia!

The answer to last weeks question is that the HOT Team currently has 23 mentors, that consist of GM employees and Huron Valley Teachers.

The answer will be revealed on Saturday before lunch as well as in the next newsletter. Stay tuned!

Team 67 Progress Update!

Dear HOT Robotics parents, guardians, and supporters,

The HOT Team build season is nearing the end, and everyone is working hard to ensure that we are ready for the approaching bag day. Teams have been communicating better than ever to guarantee that our robot is truly the best it can be.

The Programming Team has been working on different aspects of the code for the robot, as well as the scouting application. They have been working on modifying our vision system to better register the visuals, and testing their modifications at the practice field. They have, also, been designing our scouting program and setting it up so the data will transfer to a easier to read sheet.

The CAD Team has been working to update designs and measurements. They are using feedback from the practice robot build to modify measurements for the competition robot. Along with this, they are working to design a few new additional components for different aspects that they have yet to tackle.

The Field Build team has been working on finishing the practice field, and are almost done. The fields components are all built, and they are now placing plastic on the platforms for a smoother surface. Following this, they are going to ensure that everything has proper dimensions and is placed in the proper positions to make it perfect for our practice.

The Mechanical Assembly team has been working on fine tuning the practice robot, so that they are better prepared for the assembly of the competition robot. By making sure that the practice bot has the correct parts and dimensions, and that all electrical and moving parts have the space they need, it allows for them to be able to make the optimal version of our design the competition robot.

The Electrical Team has been helping to finish the practice robot, as well as working in the competition robot. They have been working on wiring the robots and ensuring that the electrical components are in the proper positions.

The Machining Team has been working to make new parts for both the practice and competition robots. Some of the parts that they had made previously fit the computer design, but once the robot’s assembly began they needed to be made to different specifications. They are also continuing to make the parts for the competition robot, as well as spare parts to have for competition in case of breakage.

The Communications team has been working on different tasks for the season. They have begun to make the trading buttons for competition, and are hoping to get as many made as possible before our first competition. They have also submitted the Woodie Flowers Award Essay, which highlights a mentor from the team for their impact they have on students. Along with this, they are continuing to work on game animations for this years theme.

For more information and details on the team, below the dates of upcoming events, new member interviews, and photos of team members working.
