Build Season

End of Build Season Update!

End of Season Summary!

Over the course of this build season, the HOT Team’s subgroups have worked hard to create the best machine that we could. Our different subgroups have been doing their own projects and working on their own aspects of the build, in order to ensure that we have what we need to create a final product we are proud of. These groups have been communicating with each other, from the early designs to our competition robot, to make sure all of our goals are met and that the robot we create is cohesive and all components work together. The HOT Team is excited to see how this robot will perform in competitions this season.

Trivia!

The answer to last week’s question is the HOT Team won the Chairman’s award in 2005, when the game theme was Triple Play. This award inducted us into the FIRST Hall of Fame, which now consists of 28 teams from across the world.

Team 67 Progress!

Dear HOT Robotics parents, guardians, and supporters,

This week has been exciting for the HOT Team, with all members working to their best of the ability to ensure we got as much done as possible before we put the robot in the bag. Teams have worked hard this season and communicated with each other effectively to ensure that our end result is cohesive. This has been an exciting season with many different challenges we’ve had to overcome.

This week, the Programming Team has been working on completing and testing code for different aspects of the robot. Throughout the build season, this group has broken apart to spread their focus on different components, from drivetrain to vision sensing, and are now bringing the different coded programs together and ensuring that they are able to work together. A part of their focus this week was lended to programming the controllers that will be used in competition, each button on these controllers will be responsible for a different aspect of code.

The CAD Team’s work has been slow this week, as a large part of what they do is design part and most of our parts are designed already. This week they have been modifying designs and designing a few new parts.

The Field Build team has been working on completing the practice field and ensuring that everything has been built properly to the game guide specifications. The practice field this year is different from previous years because it does not have to be assembled and taken down every build day, and is instead a more permanent structure in our ‘Area 67’. This has allowed for the group to make a field that has larger parts, as they do not have to be disassembled.

The Mechanical Assembly team has been working hard to complete the assembly of the competition robot. With the knowledge they gained through assembling the practice robot, this group has been able to make modifications to both parts and their process of assembly to make the robot work smoother and to assemble more efficiently.

The Electrical Team has been working closely with mechanical assembly to finish all electrical components of the competition robot. They have been wiring and connecting parts to the batteries.

The Machining Team has been working completing the parts needed for the competition robot, as well as creating spare parts that will be used at competitions if the current parts break. They have spent the season fabricating parts for all aspects of the robot, from our drive train to our elevator components. This group has been working hard to keep up with the build schedule ensuring that the parts needed for mechanical assembly are ready as soon as possible.

The Communications team has been working on different end of season tasks this week. They have continued to make the trading buttons for competition, and are hoping to get as many made as possible before our first competition. They have also completed the animations of the game that they had been learning to create and working on. Along with this, they are beginning to create a slideshow for the banquet that will take place at the end of the season.

For more information and details on the team, below the dates of upcoming events, new member interviews, and photos of team members working.
