We’re Back on the River Again

On August 21st, 2021 the HOT team got back to its annual tradition of participating in the Huron river clean up which was dearly missed in 2020. I was fortunate enough to be a part of the tradition this year, and had a great time participating in it. During this event we go down a several mile stretch of the river, collecting as much trash as we can. The entire experience was rewarding, but I especially enjoyed it when me and my partner went down the small branch that goes through central park and picked up all of the trash there. In middle school me and my friends often walked to that little stream branching off the Huron often and played in it, walking along the stone path and just messing around being kids. We always got to enjoy a clean stream, and for me to go back to that spot years later and clean it up for the next generation of kids who will hangout there was very cool to me, and made me feel good about the way that I was helping the community overall. -Zach Bonza-Brodie
