Bristle Bots are a HOT Item at the Highland Library
By Ella A
On June 22nd of 2023, the HOT Team inspired the next generation at the Highland Public Library. In this event, named “Bristle Bots,” HOT volunteers helped children to create small robots that vibrated across surfaces via a motor atop a toothbrush head. In the process, kids learned the basics of wiring circuits, troubleshooting when faced with a problem, and improvising designs for different bot behaviors. Families had the choice of making multiple bristle bots or even taking another kit home, and children had fun as they raced the finished bots across tables. At the end of the event, the HOT team cleaned up after over an hour of encouraging STEM amongst the younger kids, with any extra kits being set out for the public to take.
