Summer Robotics Camps are HOT
by Marina S
The weather’s been pretty hot lately, but that’s nothing compared to the heat the HOT team is bringing to our Electronic and Autonomous Programming Camps this Summer! This Summer, the Huron Valley HOT Team will have received all the training necessary to instruct our campers on the marvels of Arduino kits. The Arduino robot car and electrical circuit kits are the ideal educational tool for kids interested in programming, robotics, electronics, or mechanical design. These kits are created to foster logical thinking, mechanical, and electrical skills while also teaching them how to build and program fully-functioning mechanics.
Specific details on what each camp is offering can be found below:
The Autonomous Programing Camp will be held at the Heritage Elementary Cafeteria, on the dates of August 1st to August 3rd. The camp will be starting at 10:00 AM, and ending 12:00 PM. Campers will be guided by HOT Team members as they: (day 1) learn how to use the Arduino IDE to communicate with the robot car, navigate the robot car base code, and create “dead reckoning” code to navigate a parking garage; (day 2) use sensors to collect data about the car’s surroundings and use these sensors to control the car’s behavior; (day 3) learn how to communicate with the robot using a remote control.
The Electronics Programing Camp will be held at Muir Middle School, on July 18th, 20th, 25th, and the 27th. The camp will start at 10:00 AM and end at 12:00 PM. Campers will be guided by HOT Team members to begin learning about electrical circuits on Day 1. Shortly after, on Days 2 and 3, campers learn how to program their electronic circuits to perform fun tasks such as simulating a traffic light! Finally, students will either construct their own project or a “Cyclone” game on Day 4.
Join the HOT team at one of the camps this summer, or both!
