Energy is a HOT Topic at the Highland Library
By Micah and Levi H
Last Wednesday at the Highland Library, the HOT robotics team made kinetic and potential energy sound fun (and totally not boring!) for elementary students by helping design paper roller coasters. Kids from grades 2-6 designed and built roller coaster tracks using only paper and tape. Most kids kept it simple, while others attempted more complex designs like loops and jumps. Despite possible OSHA violations and a glaring lack of safety belts, no marbles were harmed in the construction and testing of the roller coasters.
