CircuitTrees at the Highland Library
By Andreas P
The HOT Team, on December 20th, hosted a STEM Circuit Tree event at the Highland Library. At this event, families from our community came into the library to create miniature Christmas trees made out of pipe cleaners, with an LED Christmas light on top. Children who participated in our event learned how to wire up a small battery to an LED light, thus learning the basics of electrical circuits. These miniature Christmas trees were placed in a Borax solution overnight in order to grow small crystals on the pipe cleaners. These crystals were the result of a chemical process taking place when the heated up Borax solution cools. Overall, in this event, the HOT team was able to impart some of its knowledge in the STEM field to young aspiring members of our community.
